Welcome to Sportsmen for the Green, the official web site of a coalition of sportsmen, guides and outfitters, businesses, small communities and conservation organizations dedicated to the Green River, Flaming Gorge Reservoir and the surrounding area.

It’s a fact: this area offers some of the best fish and big game habitat in the country. Sportsmen and women flock to the Gorge for its unmatched kokanee salmon and trophy lake trout (mackinaw) fishing. Even more come to float and fly-fish the Green below Flaming Gorge Dam, where the numbers of rainbows and browns that thrive in this productive tailwater can reach 15,000 trout per mile.

Unfortunately, speculative water development for irrigation and urban development on Colorado’s Front Range threatens this unique region, its economy and the sporting culture we’ve all come to love.
